A a poem in response to the Interfaith Concert on the International Day of Peace by Max Reif.

INTERFAITH MUSIC
By Max Reif

Each group has journeyed forth
from its home precinct,
but today all checkpoints are open,
all borders are down.

Today there is only
the Hall of the Heart,
the Language of Love.

The dancer’s body
speaks with the tongue of God.
The Christian may sing of his Christ,
the Hindu of her Ganesh,
and the Jew and Moslem
hear their own ideals,
for this language
can only describe
Oneness.

In this Hall of Symmetry,
the mirrors on every wall
field a divine image.
The very act
of joining in good will
creates the New World.
