Ring of Solidarity: Standing with our Muslim Sisters and Brothers in an Age of Discrimination and Hate Acts against Islam

Ring of Solidarity Flyer FINAL(1)+++  Ring of Solidarity
Friday, March 27th from 1:30 to 3:00 pm
San Ramon Valley Islamic Center
2232 Camino Ramon, San Ramon

Greetings/Salaam/Shalom
In response to recent tragic global, national and local events and their profound impact on our own Muslim community, the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, the Interfaith Council of San Ramon Valley and the interfaith partnership of Neighbor to Neighbor are sponsoring an area-wide program on March 27, 2015 at the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center (2232 Camino Ramon, San Ramon) starting at 1:30 p.m. immediately following the Friday Prayer Service to demonstrate our strong support for our Muslim neighbors in a “Ring of Solidarity” encircling the mosque and giving voice to our common interests and shared values.
Inspired by the actions of numerous Muslims in Norway several weeks ago holding hands to form a human chain of support around an Oslo synagogue, this local “Ring of Solidarity” offers the opportunity for you all to join with us — literally, hand in hand around the mosque building — providing an emphatic expression of caring and concern as well as the sustaining gifts of collective awareness, understanding, hope and respect for our Muslim friends and families in this time of questioning, anxiety, and confusion. In a very real sense, your presence will be the program.
A flyer with all the details is attached for you to circulate among friends and throughout your congregations and faith organizations; and we request and encourage you to do so. The program will also include local Interfaith Leaders addressing the issues with specifics on activities being undertaken to support our Muslim community, and there will then be an extended informal opportunity over refreshments to get to know your Muslim neighbors individually in small group discussions affording understanding through personal experiences and perspectives.
You may email me or any of the other contacts (copied above and) listed on the attached flyer for further information. Note the link on the flyer regarding parking details and that you are encouraged to carpool. We would also encourage you to arrive early. In all events, please plan to come on March 27 and be an integral part of joining hearts and hands together to declare our solidarity and support for our Muslim brothers and sisters. They are looking forward to seeing you all there.
Peace and blessings, Terry Clark, President ICCCC and Coordinator N2N
